Connections Ministry Deacon
I was born and raised in Texas. Abuse and dysfunction followed me from childhood into adolescence and adulthood. From an early age, I lived in a pattern of destructive behavior, spending years seeking escape and comfort from past trauma through drug use, performance and perfectionism.
I heard about the incredible hope of the gospel and came to faith when I was 25 years old. On that day, the Lord began a slow process of deconstructing and reconstructing my beliefs and desires while healing and redeeming my wounds. I fell in love with Jesus, and my adoration for Him continues to grow each day. The Lord has allowed much suffering to touch my life; however, He has used my past to glorify Himself by transforming my mind, revealing sin, granting repentance and cultivating within my heart a deep love for Him and compassion toward others. God meets us in the dark valleys and deep waters. As we trust Him through our trials, we come to a greater assurance of His love and sovereignty.
Only a sovereign and good Father could take a deeply wounded woman and change her heart in such a way that she would view vulnerability, authority and intimacy rightly through a lens of truth rather than a lens of hurt or fear. There is a God in heaven who is in control of every single breath I take and I will rest in Him.
I have been a part of Citizens Church since its inception, and it gives me great joy to serve this body.
My hope for our church is that we would walk in humility, offering ourselves as vessels to receive, enjoy and display the glory of God.
