About Emily

I was born and raised in San Diego, California, and I never would have imagined I would end up living in Texas. I was lucky enough to be raised in a home that loved Jesus and pursued Him. As I grew up, I learned all the right things to say and how to check off all the boxes when it came to my faith. It wasn’t until later in life that I realized God wanted a real relationship with me, He wasn’t just giving me a religious to-do list. Understanding that the gospel was personal changed everything for me. I felt the weight of my sin and my need for a Savior! I have seen God’s kindness and patience in my life ever since as He is slowly changing my heart to look more like His.

I studied Youth Ministry at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, and enjoyed every second of my time there. It was the first time in my life I felt like I was owning my relationship with Jesus and having a true desire to grow to be more like Christ. I spent my summers during college working as a camp counselor at Sky Ranch and loved it! The Lord quickly gave me a passion for discipleship and sharing the gospel with the next generation.

After graduating in 2017, I moved to Texas to join Sky Ranch's Legacy Fellowship program. During that year-long internship, I learned the importance of Biblical community, how to study God's Word, how to work hard and a million other things that changed my life. I then spent a semester traveling the country with Sky Ranch's summer camp team as a recruiting specialist. I am crazy thankful for all the Lord taught me through my time at Sky Ranch and the people He brought into my life. Camp ministry will always hold a special place in my heart, but I am thankful for all God is doing in my life here in Plano! Being a part of Citizens Church has been one of the greatest joys of my life! I feel so encouraged and sharpened by the body of believers here and have already learned so much from this place and these people since joining staff in early 2019.

My Hope for Citizens Church

My hope for Citizens Church is that we would be a group of people that are dedicated to living a gospel-centered life. I pray that we would seek out authentic Biblical community with each other and that we be a people excited about making disciples who make disciples. I hope people feel seen, safe, loved and fought for here.
